Items made on the Laser Cutter/Engraver

One of those 3D effect etchings on acrylic with an edge lit LED light.
Acrylic has an interesting property of highlighting engraving when lit from the edge. This is a very attractive sign and the little light bar changes colors.
This is a small overlapping box cut out of some acrylic scraps. It’s 1/4 thick and the laser cutter goes right through it. There are a number of different free on-line box generators that calculate all the sizes for you and give you the file for the laser cutter.
Another view of the box.
A nice laser cut plywood candy box for my IT customers.
Snow flakes! These are about 3 inches across. The laser cutter/engraver cuts plywood, acrylic, paper and many other things.
These are clear acrylic display cases. They are cut with the protective paper still on.
This was one of the first things that came out of the cutter/engraver. It’s heavy card stock paper. It’s amazing to watch the cutter fly through paper. This was cut in less than 30 seconds. I downloaded the pattern from one of the many sites that provide free .svg (scalable vector graphics) files for CNC and Laser.
Another example of laser cut heavy cardstock. It takes just seconds to do this. The precision and speed are amazing.
This is an example of an inlay cut. The base wood is engraved using a power level that vaporizes the wood to a certain depth. Thin laminate material is then cut using the same template. This is down by switching from raster “fill” engraving to vector cutting. With Lightburn software, this is a couple of clicks. I don’t have a picture of the completed sample, but the laminate is glued in, them some light sanding gets rid of the smoke and burn on the lighter wood.
Even 3D printed items can be engraved.
